So, all you need to do is tap that button, and your post will be saved. If you need to review or find what you have saved, you’re going to open your Instagram app first and tap on your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
Then, you’re going to tap on the three-stripes icon in the upper right corner.

We have already established that saving photos on Instagram is not exactly a piece of cake, but it’s not really difficult either. No matter what you’re using – your phone or your PC, you will have to try a little harder if you want to save an Instagram photo.
For saving photos on a PC, there is a sneaky but very effective way to save a photo without using the PrtSc button. However, it’s important to remember that doing this is going against the Instagram copyright rules, so use it for fun only.
The first step you’re going to take is open Instagram.com and log in if you aren’t already logged in. Then, find the image you’re looking for, right click and open it in the new tab. Then, right-click on the image and go to ‘View Page Source’.
Do note that you don’t have to log in – but you will have to do things a little differently. First, you’re going to use the right click on the desired image and select ‘Copy Link Address’. Now, use the mouse to put the cursor near the image and use the right click again. When the menu appears, select ‘View Page Source’,
When you complete this action, the page source will pop up in the new tab. Scroll down through the code, or simply use the controls Ctrl+F to find the very first ‘.jpg’ link you come across.
Copy the URL, but make sure to copy only what you find between two quotation marks. Paste the URL into the new tab, and wait for the image to load. Once it does, you can use the easiest way to download a picture – right-click and save the image, just like you would save any picture in the world.
This may seem a bit complicated, but it’s fairly easy to find the link in the page source, and you now know how to save images you like right on your phone or computer.
Let’s say you’re taking selfies with your best friend on the Instagram app, and you can’t come to terms with what photo is the best. The worst part is – once you exit the photo, it’s gone forever, right?
Well, no. You can save photos right within the app even if you don’t post them, and you can find them right in your Camera Roll.
The process is fairly simple – pose, and take the picture. When you are done, you will tap on the three dots located in the upper right corner.
Then, you will tap on Save, and the photo will immediately be saved in your Camera Roll. Pretty simple, right?
Well, apart from saving something just because it’s pretty or useful, there are plenty of reasons why you should save Instagram photos. For example, you can make personal mood boards out of the photos you saw on Instagram, and you can even get plenty of ideas, just like you would on Pinterest.
You can get renovation ideas, ideas for a new haircut – and you certainly won’t scroll through Instagram for a couple of minutes to show your hairdresser – you will have the photo ready to show. Also, if you run a business on Instagram, it’s incredibly important that you are able to save images.
For example, if you are tracking competitors on Instagram, you can save their posts to examine them later and get a better idea of their engagement and their posts. If they have something that is clearly working, maybe you can be inspired by their ideas and build your social media presence.
However, remember not to copy – especially not competitors. That won’t look good to your competition or your audience. Your content needs to be original, but you can be a bit inspired by your competitor’s posts.
Well, it’s all because of the copyright rules Instagram enforces. Because of the copyright rules, the app makes it difficult to save photos.
For example, if you take and post an Instagram photo, you own the copyright for that photo. Since you have the copyright, you can prohibit others from using said photo, copying it, or distributing it without your permission.
As a way to regulate copyrights in-app, Instagram prohibits saving photos directly in the app. As you know, Instagram has over a billion users, and this is the easiest way to stop people from trying to abuse copyright rules.
Luckily, yes, you can save Instagram photos – and what’s even better, you can save them in a few different ways. Saving your own posts is fairly easy, as you can even turn the settings on to save them immediately upon posting.
As for posts by others, you can save them within the app – or save them via your computer. As you already know, you do have the screenshot option if all else fails – but remember, copying and distributing other people’s posts can get you in trouble.
If you need to save a photo just because it’s funny or it’s a helpful recipe you want to make later – go on. Have fun with it!
